Bigger and better parking

RSPB Ham Wall reserve

The wonders of the Avalon Marshes attract more and more people. The nature reserves near the Avalon Marshes Centre bring those who are just out for a pleasant walk with the family through to the keen bird watchers. Whilst there is a large car park at the Avalon Marshes Centre it is a long walk (or a short cycle) to the RSPB’s Ham Wall reserve and the east end of Natural England’s Shapwick Heath reserve where parking was lacking. The Heritage Lottery Fund, through the Avalon Marshes Landscape Partnership, has contributed significant funding to allow a large car park plus environmental improvements to be made right alongside the entrance to Ham Wall. After much hard work by the RSPB team the car park was opened just before Christmas. Please do take a look at the great job which has been done. Open this link to see a location map.
