Heritage Open Day Redevelopment Tours – 10 September

Join the Somerset Rural Life Museum team for an exclusive tour of the redevelopments as part of the Heritage Open Days 2016.

The museum is currently undergoing redevelopment but some areas of the site will be accessible for Heritage Open Days as part of our outreach programme during the closed phase.

Come and find out what we’ve been up to since the project started and learn more about the redevelopment plans. There will be guided tours of the site available throughout the day and staff will be onsite to answer any questions.

No booking required - just turn up on the day. Please be aware that at this stage the museum will still be very much a building site and therefore the tours may not be suitable for all. There are steps, uneven floors and limited access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. All visitors must wear suitable sturdy footwear. Please note that only assistance dogs are allowed onsite.

South West Heritage Trust Max 15 people per tour/session. The Somerset Rural Life Museum is located in Glastonbury and is not far from the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey. The museum was established in the 1970s to tell the story of rural life in the county and is currently closed for redevelopment. The museum has not undergone major refurbishment since it opened and so the redevelopment will allow us to update the facilities, improve conditions for the collections and access for visitors.
