Ancient Cooking Workshop
Spend a day around the hearth exploring the craft of historical cooking and food preservation from our distant past with archaeologist Marc Cox and herbalist-chef Julia Bedford.
Together, they’ll guide you through the traditional techniques of ancient food preparation- from gathering wild and field ingredients to preserving and cooking.
What to Expect:
- learn how our ancestors prepared food, both from the field and from the wild.
- discover different preservation techniques, including fermentation and smoking
- engage in practical, hands-on primitive cooking experiences
- create some unique dishes familiar to the inhabitants of a Roman Villa or a roundhouse at Glastonbury Lake Village.
