Beowulf Storytelling (Festival of Archaeology)

Experience storytelling Saxon-style with a performance of Beowulf, the oldest story in the English language. Seated around an open fire in a Saxon longhall, you’ll hear the story performed by bard Lizzie Bryant in modern English in two acts. The evening will include authentic musical entertainment and hot refreshments at the interval.

Tickets
Annual members of Avalon Archaeology that receive free entry to the site in 2023 must pay full ticket price for this one-off event.

Age Restrictions
This performance is not suitable for children. Tickets are available for those aged 17 years old or over. Avalon Archaeology reserves the right to refuse entry when necessary.

Accessibility
The reconstructed buildings are accessible but feature some uneven gravel surfaces and narrow spaces that may make turning in larger electric wheelchairs difficult. Please contact us at avalon@swheritage.org.uk if you want to discuss special requirements.

Seating
Visitors will be seated on wooden benches set around an open fire for the performance. Act one will take approximately 1 hour and act 2 will take 30 minutes. Visitors are welcome to walk around the wider site during intervals.
