Immerse yourself in the ancient art of bronze casting at Avalon Archaeology in this hands-on workshop where you’ll craft your very own Bronze Age axe head, based on those made in Somerset 4000 years ago, using traditional techniques.
This is a rare opportunity to learn ancient metalworking techniques with expert Bronze Caster, Jonny Cope.
What To Expect
Your journey begins with an engaging introduction to bronze casting methodology and essential safety protocols. Watch in wonder as molten metal transforms before your eyes.
Under expert guidance, you’ll master each step of the process – from precise mould-making to the mesmerising pour, followed by the satisfying process of finishing your piece through fettling, grinding, and polishing.
All safety equipment will be provided on the day, with refreshments.
Dress warmly in full-length trousers and sturdy footwear for this primarily outdoor experience.
