Join us at Avalon Archaeology as we celebrate one of the most popular festivals in the Roman calendar: Saturnalia.
Saturnalia was a Roman festival that celebrated the god Saturn, the Roman god of farming and harvest.
Discover the site decked in festive finery, with our fire lit and warming the Roman villa, and immerse yourself in classical decadence as you join us for games and gaiety in the Villa (heated by our working hypocaust system). Sup something hot and spiced whilst attempting to solve the riddles left by the Lord of Misrule.
See the site come to life and learn the origins of this wonderful winter festival.
Appropriate hat-ware very much encouraged.
